Tindora

Tindora

Also known as an ivy or scarlet gourd, this tropical fruit is commonly used in Indian, Thai and Filipino dishes such as curries, stir fries and chutneys. Tindora are small and resemble mini cucumbers, with a mild, slightly tangy, flavor and a crunchy texture that softens slightly when cooked. Similar to cucumbers, watermelons and other gourds or squashes, they grow on vines. With a flavor that is a cross between zucchini and cucumber, tindora can also be added raw to salads and other dishes.

Tips for Selection

Look for firm, bright green gourds without yellowing or wrinkling.
