Solo Papaya

If you are in need of a tropical escape, papayas are the perfect fruit.  Solo papayas are a smaller, sweeter variety than your typical papaya. They are sweet with a soft, butter-like consistency and oh so good for you! Although peppery and somewhat bitter, a papaya’s seeds are also edible. The fruit (and leaves) contain an enzyme called papain which helps digestion and can be used to tenderize meat.

Choose papayas that are free of blemishes and firm with a few streaks of yellow.

Keep papayas at room temperature until completely yellow.
