Crystal Valley’s plums are picked, packed, and delivered from farms in Chile. Plums are packed full of nutrients and antioxidants and can aid the digestive system. The fruit is juicy and delicious when eaten fresh and it can also be dried to make prunes and jams.
Choose plums that are plump with smooth skin, rich color and no soft spots. Plums may still have a slight whitish “bloom” on their surface indicating freshness.
If your plum is ripe, you can refrigerate. If not quite ripe yet, keep it in a paper bag.
Wash plums with cold water before eating. To prepare, cut lengthwise and then remove the pit. The skin can be eaten but you can also peel it with a paring knife.
Plums are delicious eaten as is at their peak of ripeness but they can also be baked stewed, roasted, sautéed or made into sauces and jams and added to salads.
